Executive Director: Tyrone Brown Hearing and answer destiny is an understatement for Tyrone. Beginning as both a sousaphone player and percussionist in the renowned Jackie Robinson "Steppers" Marching Band, Tyrone just after three years with the ensemble was offered and accepted the position of director. During his tenure at the Jackie Robinson Center he was able to make monumental strides in cultivating, developing and enhancing the artistic minds of youth in Brooklyn. Tyrone Brown has been awarded numerous awards, including the Al Vann Award for youth leadership, citations from New York City Council members, and was a featured panelist at the Stop Americas Violence Conference in Washington, DC. After 15 years of service to the Jackie Robinson Center for Physical Culture, Tyrone's programmatic vision and the impact it could have on the thousands of youth that reside in Brooklyn began to present itself clearly, and in 2004, the Brooklyn Music and Arts Program was born. E-mail: tbrown@brooklynmusicandartsprogram.org Deputy Director: Antonio Thompson Antonio joined the Brooklyn Music and Arts Program in 2004 as a brass instructor with the Brooklyn "Steppers" Marching Band. Prior to joining BMAP, he was a supervisor at Starbucks Coffee Company in Manhattan. Antonio has a BA in Music Performance (Trumpet) and a MA in trumpet performance with a concentration in arts administration from New York University. He is currently working on his Doctorate of Musical Arts at State University of New York at Stony Brook. Currently pursuing her degree in psychology, she is responsible for all correspondences, negotiating contracts and all business related matters.
